Dear Room 2 Parents,
Well...Spring has Sprung in our classroom and we need to address our behavior, so we can enjoy June together! I am noticing that my students need to be asked several times to follow instructions, they are interrupting me while I teach and they are not listening to each other or me. Their choices are beginning to interfere with our learning and that will not be tolerated. I believe that we are a team, so I would please ask that you have a conversation with your child about what is expected of them at school and how they can change their behavior. If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to email me. Thank You for your continued support, Mrs. Sloane Tuesday, June 7th is Bike to School Day! Students are encouraged to Bike to School. It is a way to get kids active and engaged with the outdoors, their bikes, and each other!
If you don't have a bike...you can scoot, skateboard, rollerblade or walk! All types of transportation will be locked up in the gym for the day! Visit http://calgarybiketoschool.weebly.com for more information! As a school, we are keeping track of who BIKES to school, so if you plan on biking to school, please let me know via the agenda! Thanks for your continued support! The Fort McMurray fundraiser is coming to an end on Friday! As a class we have been discussing what "Alberta Strong" means. Albertans have been through a lot over the last few years; the Slave Lake Fires, the Southern Alberta Floods and now the Fort McMurray Wild Fires. We have learned that Albertans are resilient, brave, courageous, patient, calm, hopeful, helpful and STRONG!
Here is the Alberta Strong anthem that shows how Albertans came together during the Wild Fires. We are still accepting donations for the Red Cross! If you can, PLEASE donate by Friday! As a class, we currently have raised $25. Our class goal is to collect $50 for the Red Cross! We start swimming on Tuesday. On swimming days, please have your child wear their swimsuit UNDER their clothes. Please send other swimming items in a separate swim bag because students will NOT be bringing their backpack to the pool.
In their swim bag, please put a towel, clean underwear, a brush, goggles if you have them and a plastic bag for their WET swimsuit. A reminder that we swim on May 24th, 26th 31st, June 2nd, 7th and 9th If you have any questions, please e-mail me at [email protected] Happy Swimming! Students have been exploring the interaction of magnets with a variety of materials found within our classroom. Students can:
On Monday, the Grade 2 classes will be walking to 4 Cats Art Studio on Edgedale Drive.
At the 4Cats Art Studio, students will take their knowledge of Canada’s geography and they will create an individual Splatter Art canvas that represents one of the Canadian communities that have been investigating. Please read this note from 4Cats Art Studio: You are entering a paint-y wonderland. We don’t know where all the paint hides here but it jumps on you! We have the potential to get really messy here —and by messy, we mean stained. Please, please, please dress in clothes you don’t mind getting paint on and that the paint will not wash out. Please dress for mess (head to toe!) Footwear MUST be worn at all times. We are extremely proud as a Grade Two team to share the article in Hivelights; The Official Magazine of the Canadian Honey Council!
The link below will take you to the online version. We are "hivelighted" on page 8&9! Please take time with your child to read the article and celebrate their hard work! _Hive Lights Magazine May is NATURE month. As a class, we will be participating in a 30x30 Nature Challenge. We will be spending an extra 30 minutes a day outside in NATURE...even if it rains!!
Please support our challenge and try your best to be outside on the weekend for at least 30 minutes a day! |
