We have been playing many different addition and subtraction math games to reinforce our mental math skills, but also to build our mathematical thinking. As we play these games we focus on explaining our thinking. Instead of saying 26+43=69, we say 20+40=60 AND 6+3=9, so 60+9=69.
Try these games at home and make sure you explain your THINKING! Race to 100 or Race to 0 with a focus on Doubles and Near Doubles (Hundreds Chart, Dice and markers) Double Trouble; Speed, Highest or Lowest Numbers (Deck of Cards and Dice) Subtraction Snap (Deck of Cards) Comments are closed.
